Reports claim former Prince Andrew was arrested by UK police on the morning of his 66th birthday on suspicion of misconduct in public office tied to the Epstein files.
According to several outlets, the allegations involve sharing confidential information with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein while Andrew was still in public duties. His past association with Epstein resurfaced after survivor Virginia Giuffre’s memoir alleged she was trafficked by Epstein and had a sexual encounter with Andrew at age 17.
Thames Valley Police said they recognize the strong public interest but would not name the person arrested in line with policy. The arrest comes a day after reports he would begin receiving a state pension.
Buckingham Palace said King Charles was “deeply concerned,” adding the matter must be handled through a full and proper legal process and that the family will cooperate, while offering no further comment.
