High-speed internet will soon be available to residents and businesses on Big and Little Tancook Islands. Nearly six kilometres of submarine fibre optic cable will be laid along the ocean floor to connect the mainland with both islands. Internet for Nova Scotia Initiative projects must meet or exceed minimum Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) speeds. More than 180 homes and businesses will benefit from the service, something Chester-St. Margaret's MLA Danielle Barkhouse says is vital to supporting residents, small businesses and visitors with access to the services and opportunities they need.
