Content info

Good day. Thank you for visiting this website. We have some information to share with you about becoming a content creator. Harry will see a training video that we recorded involving a couple of our current volunteers.

Here's some questions that we will be asking with regard to your technical resources and ability.

Are you using a PC or a Mac?
Do you have a USB microphone?
Do you have a USB mixer?
Do you know any DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) This is recording and editing software. If so, what do you know/have?

How to Create Content With Us

A simple, guided process. No studio required

We’ve designed this process to be comfortable, and low-stress. You don’t need radio experience, fancy equipment, or a script. Just your voice and a quiet space.

  1. Find a Quiet Space

Before recording, choose a place where you won’t be interrupted.

  1. Your Equipment

You don’t need professional gear. Any of the following work great:

    • A USB microphone
    • A XRL microphone connected to a USB mixer.
    • An “AirPod” style unit that will connect via BlueBooth to your PC or Mac.

We’ll help you get the best sound out of whatever you’re using.

  1. Recording Software you might find helpful

           (PC) https://github.com/audacity/audacity/releases/download/Audacity-7.7/audacity-win-3.7.7-64bit.exe

(MAC) https://muse-cdn.com/Audacity_Installer_via_MuseHub.pkg Basic training video https://youtu.be/VznRb6vX7lQ?si=hr7iTyxd5Yss7T7z

  1. The Recording Session When it’s time to record:
      • Put your phone on Do Not Disturb
      • Get close to the microphone. The closer you are the better you will sound technically.
      • Do a test recording and listen back before you get going. It is frustrating when you did a show and then when you go to listen back you find the level was too low or the sound is distorted.
      • If you have a simple fumble of your words, don’t draw attention to your error, just move on.

You’re human and will make little mistakes.

      • Edit if you feel the need to. Highlight what you want to remove, and hit the delete button. Use Ctrl X to undo if the edit was not correct.
      • Once you are done, ensure the start is the first thing you want to air, and the last thing in the audio timeline is that last thing you want to say. Remove the “CHECK CHECK CHECK” etc. What you Mixdown is what will air on GoProud
      • Keep your “Mixdown” under 30 minutes. That will help us time out to the next show.
      • Name the Mixdown using a special file name Scott will give you.
      • Drop it in the Google Drive we provide.
  1. How to approach this your spoken word.
    • Think of one friend talking to another friend. That’s all this is.
    • Know your subject, research your topic so you feel comfortable.
    • Sounds natural and genuine, don’t put on a “radio voice” Authenticity matters more than perfection.

Libel - It's a Legal Matter

 What is a libellous statement?

    • Causes someone to be shunned or avoided
    • Lowers a person in the eyes of other people
    • Damages them, their office, trade or profession
    • Holds them up to hated, ridicule or contempt

Ask yourself, would you like this said about you or your family?

 Important to remember.

Ensure you deliver your mixdown show at least 15 minutes before airtime to ensure the system loads the audio.

If you are not able to do your show, let us know a day ahead so we can play an older episode.
